Nawshad Ahmed holds a Ph.D. in Economics and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning.  He worked with UNICEF in Bangladesh for eight years and two African countries Nigeria and Sudan for ten years as Chief of Programme Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation. He also worked in Solomon Islands for few months where he gathered experience in emergency programme.  He also worked in the Asia Foundation managing NGO programmes, private sector as an economist and in the government as an urban planner prior to joining UNICEF. In UNICEF, he developed several medium-term Country Programmes and monitored and evaluated their achievements. He also ensured quality of the annual workplans, regularly interacted with the implementing partners, organized detailed annual programme reviews, and organized M&E training. He conducted large-scale data collections, and conducted over two hundred studies and evaluations.  He prepared various reports including the annual report, State Party Report and national MDG report. In the Asia Foundation, he has overseen program implementation in the areas of development, women’s economic and legal rights, local governance, advocacy and law programs. He developed project proposals, agreements, monitoring progress of implementation, wrote evaluation reports and strengthened overall grant management. He also undertook many consultancy assignments outside his regular jobs in different times.  He also published a number of journal and newspaper articles.
