Md. Nurul Islam is a Migration and Skill Development Specialist. He is the former Director (Training), Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training, Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment and is currently working as a TVET Specialist, Skill for Employment and Investment Program (SEIP), Finance Division, Ministry of Finance. He managed various projects, with not only preparation but also in implementation, monitoring and evaluation during his period in BMET, on skill development training and human resources development programs. He also worked as an Adviser (Skills for Employment), Program Support Unit, Bangladesh Program, Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD), High Commission of Canada, Dhaka, Bangladesh. In DFATD, he mainly advocates for quality assurance to the Bangladesh Program of the Canadian Government on Technical and Vocational Education and Training and Skills for Employment with potential areas of interventions alignmentwith the labour market needs and gaps and the key challenges. In BMET, he worked for computerization of BMET headquarters and Collection, preservation and presentation of Labour Market Information Project, contributed to establish Technical Training Centers and Institutes of Marine Technologies. During his period in BMET, he also contributed a lot to advise civil society organization’s works on migration and skill development. He also worked as a consultant of International Organization for Migration (IOM), International Labor Organization (ILO), UN Women, World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), SwissContact, International Migrant Remittance Observatory (IMRO), BRAC, Manusher Jonnyo Foundation (MJF) and many other NGOs. Md Nurul Islam is Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration, USA and he did his Master of Engineering (Industrial and Production Engineering) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He also did his Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management/Administration from College of Professional Management, UK with a Distinction. Md. Nurul Islam supports DEVCOM in the technical areas as a resource person.
