Motahar Akand is an Expert of Participatory Training Approach in the field of Human Rights, Gender, Leadership and management. He is a champion of Training of Trainers (TOT) courses as well as developing of modules, manuals and materials. He has conducted more than 400 courses for around 10000 participants Consist of NGO & Govt. officials, Lawyers, Teachers, Social Opinion Leaders, Cultural Activists, NGO group members, CBO Leaders, Students and youths in home and abroad. He has developed 20 (twenty) modules on deferent subjects like; Human Rights, Gender, Family law, Child Rights, Laws relating to VAWG, Sex workers rights, Roles and Responsibilities of UP members &, secretaries, Leadership and Management, Reproductive rights and life skills, General TOT, TOT for Para legal Trainers, TOT on Action Theatre etc. He has been working with rights based organizations since last 27 years and spent around 20 years in Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), a leading Human rights organization in Bangladesh as the Head of Training, Capacity Building, and HR Awareness Program.
Motahar Akand is also well known for his socio cultural activism. He is the founder GS of Bangladesh Dayal Patrika Parishad, and Chairperson of Rights Centre. He initiated Action Theatre for analyzing social issues in Bangladesh. He is a Master of Management from Dhaka University and doing his PhD research at Government and Politics Department of Jahangir Nagar University.
